Barça have practically said goodbye tot he title after tying 2-2 with Getafe this Saturday at the Camp Nou. The men managed by Tata Martino watched two points slip away in stoppage time when Lafita scored the equaliser. “We’re not doing well because our season hasn’t been a good one. We started off on the right foot by winning the Super Cup, but we weren’t competitive in a lot of aspects throughout the season,” said Xavi. The Catalan, one of the team captains, admitted that the team “hasn’t been at the required level, we’ve had terrible season and now we have to be critical of ourselves.”

“A miracle has to happen in order for us to win La Liga, it’s practically impossible,” said Xavi, who added “we have to improve a lot of things, be critical with ourselves, and get ready for next year.”

The following statements were made by some of the players after the match:

Sergio Busquets:

“We conceded goals that we should not have conceded, the fault lies with the whole team.”

“We have two games left and we have to try to finish as strong as possible because we play for the best club in the world.”

“Hopefully next season will be better.”

“In these recent weeks we haven’t been on form, but we pulled through with our games, the possibility of something happening like what happened today could was a possibility.”

“We had ball possession and goalscoring chances, but we have to control so much more in order to win, we have to be a more complete team.”

“La Liga is practically over for us, it’s almost lost.”

Marc Bartra:

“I think we have to analyse what happened, be critical without ourselves and think about the future.”

“We have to try and grow as a team, both personally and collectively.”

“We didn’t kill the game off and that came back to bite us.”

“I’ve grown a lot as a player, but on a collective level we didn’t manage to reach our goal.”
