Sergio Busquets, who scored the first goal of the game, said that the 2-0 “is a good result” seeing that “we didn’t concede any goals.” He added, “now we just have to play the second leg, the Anoeta is a difficult stadium.”

The midfielder then went on to say that the tie is far from over: “hopefully we can do the same thing in the second leg and get to the finals.” Busquets also talked about the result from the other semi-final between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid: “the 3-0 is a good result for Real Madrid.”

Here are the statements made by some of the players after the match:

Xavi Hernández

“We have to see what the referee says. I didn’t hear what Iñigo told him.”

“We had a lot of chances but we only scored two goals, but overall we secured a great result.”

Dani Alves:

“We got an important victory and in a tie like this it’s important to not concede any goals in the first leg. We will go to San Sebastián to earn our place in the final.”

“I’m very happy for Pinto, he’s a great professional and that’s how we want our teammates to be like, always prepared to do a good job.”

“It’s important to win. This is what we live for and when you have bad results it’s normal for people to have doubts. The only thing that we can’t do is doubt our team, we can’t be pessimistic.”

“Each one of us defends the colours and we try to do a good job, it’s always a joy to go back to Sevilla, that was my home for a long time and I have a lot of respect them.”

Jordi Alba:

“The 2-0 is a good result, but at home playing against a 10-man team, another goal would have been good to have.”

“The team gave it their all and we have to do our best to win the second leg. I think we played a good game.”
