Leo Messi has been playing first team football for a full decade since he first walked onto the field at Do Dragao against Porto. That was on November 16, 2003. The future winner of a record four Ballons d’Or came on in the 75th minute as a replacement for Fernando Navarro.

327 goals in 395 games

Since then, Leo Messi has scored 327 goals for Barça, and among many other records, this makes him the highest goalscorer in club history in official matches.

On occasion of this tenth anniversary, Barça TV’s ‘Porta 104’ show has put together a programme called ‘El dia que va debutar el 10’ (the day the 10 made his debut), in which Messi says “I had fought hard for that moment to arrive, it was very special”.

He also tells the story of how he found out that he was going on the trip to Portugal. “I remember that we were training with the youth team” he says. “At the end of the session, Colomer commented on a few things and told me that I was going to be travelling with the first team”.
