Cristian Tello was smiling again after Tuesday night’s Copa del Rey encounter. Shortly after being declared fit again he started the game at the Camp Nou, and helped his team into the next round of the cup with a 3-0 win over Cartagena.
Own goal
Afterwards, he visited the ‘El Marcador’ show in the Barça TV studios, where he said that “I am back to 100% fitness and very happy to have played … I felt comfortable after the injury.”
He was highly active throughout the game and played a part in the second goal, which was ultimately recorded as an own goal following a deflection off Mariano. “Yes, it hit a defender” he conceded. “I was trying to cross to Pedro, who I’d spotted at the far post, but it bounced in off a defender.”
Tough match
Tuesday was Tello’s third start for the first team and his first full ninety of the season. At it wasn’t an easy game, despite Cartagena being from a lower division. “We played a very intense match” he said. “Cartagena were very solid at the back and we found it hard going”.
Now for Getafe
FC Barcelona’s next Copa del Rey opponent will be Getafe and on Sunday at 17.00, they’ll be getting a chance to suss out the Madrid based side in a Liga fixture. Tello commented last night that Getafe “is a side that makes it very difficult for you at their ground and on Sunday we’re going to have a tough match”.
