Alex Song’s Cameroon didn’t get off to the best of starts in the World Cup. A goal from Mexico’s Uribe in the second half condemned the African nation to a 1-0 defeat.

The second match of the World Cup saw former Barça players Rafa Márquez, Samuel Eto’o and Gio Dos Santos on the pitch in addition to FC Barcelona midfielder Alex Song. Cameroon ceded the initiative of the match to Mexico, but the Mexicans struggled to create goalscoring chances. It should be noted that Dos Santos scored two goals, but they were both called back. Both goals appeared to be legal.

In the second half Peralta poached the decisive goal to secure the three points for Mexico.

Mexico: Ochoa; Layún, Moreno, Márquez, Rodríguez, Aguilar; Guardado (Marco Fabián, min 68), Vázquez, Herrera (Salcido, min 91); Dos Santos, Peralta (Hernández, min 73).
