Today, December 18, is the second anniversary of FC Barcelona’s second Clubs World Cup title. In late 2011, Josep Guardiola managed his side to a 4-0 win over Santos in Yokohama. Messi (2), Xavi and Cesc all found the target in a game in which Neymar came face to face for the first time with what would become his future club.
Three days earlier, Barça had also won 4-0 in the semi-finals against Qatari outfit Al-Sadd.
That Barça victory came just two years after they had sealed the coveted crown for the first time in club history, in 2009. That year the final was played in Abu Dhabi and was a tight encounter with Argentina’s Estudiantes La Plata (2-1). Pedro and Messi scored in a match that was decided in extra time.
