Neymar: “I want to win everything”

Barça's new signing is hungry for success and is also keen to make his possible debut at the Camp Nou on Friday. “Barcelona is a marvellous city, but what has most impressed me is the group of players here"

There was an air of excitement in the press room at the Ciudad Deportiva this Thursday morning when Neymar da Silva gave his first press conference since joining the Club and the Brazilian made it clear from the start that he was ready to face up to the challenges that playing at Barça bring, explaining: “I want to win everything- I’ll be happy if I can play well and help the team”.

Neymar explained: "what has most impressed me is the Club and the players here – it’s all much more than I expected. It’s a great feeling and it’s like a dream come true – I look around me and I see Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol..., I’m more than happy!”. Quizzed about his relationship with Messi, Neymar made it clear: “it’s marvellous. I’m sure we’ll not have any problems. Messi is a leader , the best in the world and I am here to help”.

Neymar also wished Tito Vilanova  a quick recovery and revealed that new coach Tata Martino hasn’t yet told him which position he’ll be playing in the team, whilst insisting that the communication between the two is a constant: "he’s a great coach and I’ve talked with him everyday. He talks with everyone. Having a foreign coach is a great opportunity”.

Keen to make his debut

There’s a chance that Neymar could make his Camp Nou debut on Friday in the Joan Gamper Trophy and he insisted he is keen to make his debut: "it’ll be a great game and I hope to score a goal against Santos – I’ve been thinking about how to celebrate it and it will be special one. Every game is important and the pressure is always there – it’s part of the game, but I’ll try and keep a cool head”.

 Getting fitter

Although he has only been in training for four days now, Neymar is feeling good: “I’m getting fitter and training hard. I lost three kilos after my tonsil operation , but I’m getting better. I’m trying to adapt as quickly as I can. Barça play the most beautiful football in the world and I’m trying hard to be part of that. I need to be me though  - continue playing my way and conquering that dream”.
