Leo Messi was one of the standout players against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. After the match, the Argentinian said, “I still need to get a more time on the pitch. It’s the last thing I need to be ready. The idea is to get more time in games and this Thursday was a good opportunity because we came into the match with a big advantage.”

“Like in every match, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We couldn’t let them get a chance to get back into the tie and we played a very serious game,” said Messi. He added: “It’s a shame what happened to Neymar. I hope he isn’t out for too long, we need him.”

Here are the statements made by some of the players after the match:

Xavi Hernández:

“We are doing well, we’re playing well regardless of who plays, the team’s level doesn’t drop. Everyone is comfortable here, we feel important. We’re enjoying this and we’re playing good football.”

“Since Messi came back from Argentina he’s been happy. He scored two goals and he’s back to his usual form.”

“This is an important match for me. I hope to continue to be important for Barça. The most important thing is that we play well, our objectives are to win titles.”

“We don’t know how to play any other type of football that isn’t attacking football. We’re happy because we won another game.”

“I hope Neymar’s injury isn’t anything serious.”

Crisitan Tello:

“The most important thing is to play, get time on the pitch and work hard. You always have to give the best of yourself and take advantage of your opportunities.”

“I’m happy here. I’m not playing as much as I did last year, but I’m not giving up.”

“I feel good playing on the right. The important thing is to get minutes. After that, with Neymar’s injury, I went to the left side – I feel good on either side of the pitch.”

“Messi has made a great return and hopefully he’ll score many more goals in the future.”

“It’s a privilege to play with Xavi.”

Marc Bartra:

“Extending my contract with Barça is a dream and an honour. I’ve always been focused on Barça. Tata Martino has given me confidence and I feel like I’m at home.”

“I’m very thankful to Tito Vilanova for making me a first team player and to Tata Martino for giving me confidence.”

“I’m an ambitious person and I hope to play 700 games like Xavi. It would be an honour. He’s a reference for us.”

“Sergi Roberto is a player that doesn’t lose possession and he’s got enormous potential. The manager asks him to be shameless.”
