After the game against Celta, Jordi Alba lamented Víctor Valdés’ injury. “It’s a very serious injury on a personal level and also for the whole team. His absence will be significant,” he declared. “We’ve shared a lot of time together and it’s always a shame when a team-mate picks up an injury, even more so when it’s Víctor Valdés,” he said.

The FC Barcelona left back also said, “the team needs to follow the path we’ve taken thus far. We’ve secured a string of good results, we’re on form and we have to try to win the games we have left and hope that Real Madrid and Atlético lose points.”

In reference to the game against Espanyol (4:00 PM CET), Alba said, “everyone likes to play in the derby, the atmosphere will be great.”

Here are the statements made by some of the players after the match:

Neymar Jr

“I’m happy that we won. I’m very happy for the two goals and that we won the other day in the Bernabéu. On a personal level, I’m very calm and feel at ease.”

“The victory is bittersweet because of Valdés’ injury. I hope it’s nothing serious.”

Sergi Roberto

“The three points are important because we have to win all the games we have left, but it’s a shame that Valdés got injured, it looks like he’ll miss the rest of the season. Hopefully he’ll be out for as little as possible.”

“We’re affected by his injury, but Pinto and Oier are great keepers. Now we have to fight until the end of the Liga. There aren’t many games left and it will be exciting until the end.”

“The derby against Espanyol is always a good match to play in, it wil be a final.”
