International press mourn Tito Vilanova

Newspapers from around the world mourn the loss of FC Barcelona's former manager

News of the passing of Tito Vilanova at the age of 45 has circled the globe. The death of the ex Barça manager after his long battle against center has rattled the sporing community, and the press has paid tribute to the man that guided FC Barcelona to last year’s league title with a haul of 100 points.

“Eternal”

All of the Catalan and Spanish dailies led with pictures of the manager on their fronts this morning. L’Esportiu and Mundo Deportivo used the word “Eternal”. Sport’s title reads: “A great manager and a good person” with a portrait of Vilanova. In Spain, Marca leads with: “Your battle is a lesson for us”, while As says: “Tito dies. Football mourns.”

“Vilanova, defeated by cancer”

International press also talked reported the passing of Tito Vilanova. The French daily L’Equipe talks about the manager’s biography and leads with: “Barça mourn Vilanova.” The two Italian papers also remember the manger. Gazzeta Dello Sport leads with: “Vilanova dies at the age of 45. The manager fought cancer since 2011.” And Corriere dello Sport says “Barcelona are in mourning, Vilanova dies.”

In Germany, Bild opes with “Cancer, Vilanova dies”. The Guardian leads with “Tito Vilanova dies at the age of 45,” and says that he was “a leader that took Barça to the league title with record-tying amont of points and with Guardiola he built one of the best teams in the history of the sport.” The Telegraph says “He was strong enough to return to the Camp Nou in March and watch his Barça win the league.”
