Han Krankl speaking to the club's media

Hans Krankl has visited the FC Barcelona Museum

Hans Krankl was a fan favourite at Barça in his two seasons at the club, and this weekend he was back at the Camp Nou to remember his time here in a programme being recorded by Sky Austria. The Austrian was in the presidential box to watch as Barça thrashed Granada 4-0 at the Camp Nou.

On Sunday, he paid a visit to the Camp Nou Museum where he was able to view mementoes of the Cup Winners Cup Final of 1979 in Basel. Speaking to Barça TV and fcbarcelona.cat, he said “for many young people, that was the first international trophy they had seen the club win, and we did it in a very difficult game that went into extra time”. It was Krankl himself who scored the winner. “In those day it mattered as much to win the Cup Winners Cup as it does to win the Champions League now”, he added.

Fond memories

Hans Krankl spent two seasons at Barça, and went out on loan in between, but they were years he remembers fondly, and he revealed some of his memories to Sky Austria. “I like to visit Barcelona once a year”, says the man who got 29 goals in his first season at Barça.
