Andrés Iniesta has now scored 50 goals with teh first team

The 3-4 win at the Bernabéu provided a host of interesting facts and figures:

  • Andrés Iniesta reached his half century of goals with the first team when he opened the scoring last night. Iniesta has scored 22 League goals, 10 in the Champions League, 1 in the Spanish Super Cup and 6 in the Spanish Cup. Sunday’s was his first ever goal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

  • The Barça number 8 has never been on the losing side in a game in which he has scored for Barça or Spain.
  • Sunday’s was Iniesta’s second goal in a Clasico, following his stike at the Camp Nou in the second leg of the 2011 Spanish Super Cup.
  • Leo Messi became the first Barça player to claim a hat trick at the Santiago Bernabéu.
  • Messi also scored three against Real Madrid in the 2006/07 season in the 3-3 draw at the Camp Nou.
  • The Argentinean has now bagged 21 goals against Real Madrid – more than he’s scored against any other side.
  • Leo Messi, overtook Hugo Sánchez and Di Stéfano as the leading scorer in the fixture, with 14 league goals to add to his 5 in the Spanish Super Cup and 2 in the Champions. Will he break his duck in the Cup against Madrid in this year’s Final next month?
  • Barça put an end to Madrid’s 31 game unbeaten run.

  • Sunday’s was the first in eight away league games that Barça had opened the scoring, following the defeat in Bilbao (1-0), the win in  Getafe (2-5), the drawn games against Atletico Madrid (0-0) and  Llevant (1-1), the win against Seville (1-4) and the defeats against Real Societat (3-1) and Valladolid . The last time they’d scored first on the road was in the 1-4 victory over Betis on November 10 (1-4).
