Cesc Fàbregas was one of the best players in the match this evening. Against Celta Vigo, the Catalan forced Barça’s second goal of the night (Yoel own goal), and he scored the team’s third minutes later. After the match he said: “It’s been a while since I’ve scored and I regretted not getting on the scoresheet against Osasuna. It’s always better to score.” He added: “We’re pleased. The team played a good and complete game, we had a dip in form in the first half but in the second we played well.”

The midfielder also highlighted the importance of winning the three points in Balaídos because “we knew that the Clásico was important because of what it represents, but later we had to come here, on Tuesday and play at 10:00 PM and it seems as though it’s not as important. These three points are the ones you need at the end of the season.

“I had the freedom to play up top. We pressured well and the first goal was scored because we were in a good position,” said the midfielder, who was positioned in front of Song and Busquets this evening against the Galicia-based team.

When asked about his current form, Cesc explained that “now that I have quite a few games under my belt, I feel important and the only thing I have to do is play well for the team. These rotations really help out the players and it makes us all feel important. I’m pleased with the two goals.”

The midfielder also talked about the upcoming Catalan derby against Espanyol: “A derby is a derby. It will be complicated and we expect to see the best version of Barça and win the three points.”

Here are the statements made by the players after the match:

Víctor Valdés:

“Celta played a very good game while we defended well and took advantage of our chances.”

“I’m very pleased on a personal level and I’m happy with how the defence played, closer to our area. It’s really positive work.”

“Celta made it difficult for us to build up our play from the back, and Barça defended closer to goal. Practicing these types of things will be helpful in the future.”

(On the derby) “We’re reinforced after the match against Madrid. We showed that we want this league title and that’s dependent on winning matches like today and against Espanyol.”

Marc Bartra:

“The three points are very important, more than we thing. They remind us that we need to pay attention and to maintain the same desire to win.”

“We have players, especially up top, who are very decisive. We created a lot of chances and we took advantage of them.”

“Having rotations and winning is positive for the team. We’re doing well and playing well regardless of who plays.”

“I’m very pleased that I got to start. The most important thing is to maintain form.”

“I’m very comfortable with Puyol, when I can’t get to the ball, he does and vice versa. We talk a lot on the pitch and the most important thing is to bring security to the team. When we’re together, we don’t concede goals.”
