Tito’s Barça, a goalscoring machine in La Liga

FC Barcelona are the team with the most goals scored this season in La Liga (39) and the second highest goalscoring team in the history of the Club in the first 12 weeks of the competition

Tito Vilanova’s team’s record over the first 12 games has only been bettered by the 1950/51 side coached by Fernando Daucik, who scored 42 over the first dozen games and they have equalled the team managed by Helenio Herrera in the 1959/60 season. Messi , the leading scorer in the league with 17 goals, has managed more on his own than 12 of the teams in the completion. Barça have made a great start to the 2012/13 season, with 34 out of a possible 36 points so far, built on a fantastic goal scoring record – 39 at a rate of 3.25 a game, seven more than the second highest scorers, Real Madrid.

Second highest scorers in Club history

Tito Vilanova’s team have in fact scored more than any other Barça side over the first dozen games except for Helenio Herrera’s 1959/60 side, who also scored 39 and the 1950/51 team under Fernando Daucik, who managed 42.

Messi- the goal machine

Of those 39 goals, Leo Messi has managed 17, which makes him not just the team’s top scorer, but also the league’s- with five more than Cristiano Ronaldo- and has actually scored more than 12 of the other sides in the competition have managed.
