When Barça run out onto the San Mames pitch for the last ever time this evening, they will face a Bilbao team who have not enjoyed anything like their legendary home success this season. Bielsa’s side are down in 14th spot and have what is for them a very poor home record in this their last campaign at the San Mames – having won seven, lost seven and drawn two games.

Just one point from last three games

Bilbao are in the middle of a poor run right now, having taken just one point from their last three games after losing at the Sanchez Pijuan to Seville and at home to Real Madrid, although they take a point from the Riazor against in form Deportivo last week. The spectre of relegation which threatened earlier in the season seems to have been seen off however, and Bilbao are currently 14th, with 36 points, having won 10 games, drawn seven and lost 16.

Team will take nothing for granted

Tito Vilanova’s team won’t be taking anything for granted at the San Mames though, which has proved to be a difficult ground over recent years – Barça have won 12 times in their last 23 visits, although in the overall  81-game league history of the fixture, they’ve been victorious just 22 times
