Tito Vilanova was able to lead Barça from the bench this Sunday against Espanyol after he was declared well enough by team doctors to participate in tonight’s match.

“He’s proving that it’s possible to fight against these types of diseases. He’s shown great mental and physical strength,” said President Sandro Rosell to Barça TV. The FC Barcelona president noted that “the doctors authorised him to be here tonight and we’ll have to see how he feels after the match. He’s very eager to lead the team and as long as the doctors allow him, he’ll carry the flag of the Club.”

Rosell then said that he “has no doubt that the Ballon d’Or [which will be awarded on Monday] will be won by a Barça player. For me, they are the best.”

The Camp Nou’s support

The Camp Nou faithful showed their support to the Blaugrana manager when he came out onto the pitch before the match. In addition, the fans held up banners and posters for the manager who’s made an earlier than expected return after undergoing surgery in December.
