Jordi Alba was at the Ciutat Esportiva on Thursday evening after the squad had completed their second session of the day. He was able to greet his new teammates and met with Tito Vilanova, who gave him another few days break after his exertions at the Euro 2012 and Olympic Games. Alba was keen to start training as soon as possible, but he will join up with the rest of the squad on Wednesday August 8th , when the squad fly out to Gothenburg to play Manchester United.

Montoya and Tello due back on Friday

Barça’s two other Olympians -Martín Montoya and Cristian Tello- were also back in Barcelona on Thursday and they are scheduled to join the training session on Friday morning.

20 players in training

Tito Vilanova trained with the same 18 first team squad members on Thursday evening who had trained in the morning, with B team players Sergi Roberto and Oier also joining in again. Jonathan Dos Santos was missing after a slight thigh strain meant he worked aside from the rest of the group on some specific work.

New turf and Milito visit

The team trained for the first time this pre-season on the new turf on pitch number 1 at the Ciutat Esportiva and ex-Barça man Gaby Milito watched the session before chatting with some of his ex-teammates afterwards.

The squad began Friday’s training session at nine o’clock, behind closed doors, with Victor Valdes scheduled to speak to the media afterwards.

Adriano doubtful for Saturday

During Thursday evening’s training, the Brazilian utility man twisted his left ankle and the Club doctors will be keeping an eye on him before deciding whether he is fit to travel to Paris on Saturday.
