París Saint-Germain beat Rennes 0-2 this Saturday ahead of Wednesday’s trip to the Camp Nou for their Champions League quarter final second leg game against Barça. Ancelotti’s side went ahead at the start of the second half through an individual effort from Menez and rounded off the game with a late Zlatan Ibrahimovic strike after a pass from Beckham.

The Swedish striker had a hatful of chances in the first half, but didn’t find the back of the net until injury time in the second. After PSG had gone ahead, Rennes tried to get back on even terms with the league leaders, but lacked any real threat upfront to threaten Sirigu. It looked as if Menez’s 56 minute strike would settle the game before Beckham, who had come on at the break, set up Ibra’s injury time second.

Ancelotti rests players

Carlo Ancelotti was able to rest several key players ahead of Wednesday’s game, with just four players who started last Tuesday in the starting line up to face mid-table Rennes Sirigu, Ibrahimovic, Maxwell and Matuidi.

The three points keep PSG seven ahead of second place Marseiiles at the top of the table.
