Men’s first team and Women’s A team both win league in same season for the first time

Tito Vilanova’s team have led the league from start to finish, whilst Xavi Llorens’ side took top spot on the last day of the season Both sides also boast their league’s leading scorers - Leo Messi and Sònia Bermúdez

FC Barcelona are complete champions, with both Tito Vilanova and Xavi Llorens’ sides beating their main rivals to win their respective leagues. This is the first time that both the men’s and women’s teams have won their league in the same year.

Contrasting routes to the title

The men’s team have been untouchable this season, topping the table from the very first day of the season and never giving any chance to their rivals, whilst the women have put in a battling season, trailing all campaign until they travelled to play Bilbao at the San Mames on the last day of the season, knowing that only a win would give them the title. Win they did and for the first time ever, the Club can celebrate wining both the men’s and women’s leagues.
Both teams have been led by outstanding goal scorers, with Messi finishing as the league’s top scorer for the third time and Sònia Bermúdez’s 21 goals making her the women’s league top scorer.

Naturally enough, both sides boast a great record, with Xavi Llorens’ team winning 24 , drawing 4 and losing just 2 games, whilst Tito’s men have so far won 29, drawn 4 and lost just twice, with 3 games still to go.
