After the 2-2 draw with Celta at Balaídos, Jordi Roura said, “at this point in the season each match is more complicated ...  we did the hardest thing, which is to fight back, but this is football and they equalised in one of the few chances they had.”

Roura added: “I said this match was an important one before it started. We were very close to winning it, but we didn’t defend the play [that led to their second goal] well . I don’t think we were focused on the match in Paris.” The assistant manager went on to talk about Leo Messi’s record-breaking goalscoring streak of 19 consecutive league matches. “No one has ever done this in the history of the sport. This player is immense and those of us that are lucky enough to work with him need to enjoy it,” he explained.

“Tello is a player with extraordinary qualities”

One of the standout players this Saturday was Cristian Tello. He scored Barça’s first and he assisted Messi for the team’s second. For Roura, “Tello is a player with extraordinary qualities. He’s working really well, he’s managed to gain the aggressiveness he was lacking. In addition to the goal he scored, he also created a lot of chances. He’s already played many games at a high level this season. He needs to keep on working. He’s a different type of player, he brings different things to the team.”

Lastly, when asked about Éric Abidal, Roura said, “if he’s named to the team it means he might play.”
