Jordi Roura was visibly pleased with his team's performance during the post-match press conference after the convincing 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano. The manager explained that “tonight’s match was great, especially after the fatigue from the Milan game ... the fans got to watch an entertaining game.” The Catalan went on to say that “our goals were scored from counterattacks, that’s not very normal when we play at home.”

Villa is important

One of the best players on the pitch this Sunday was David Villa, who scored the opener and assisted Messi twice. The Asturian, who also netted against Milan, is proving to be a crucial player in key matches for Barça this season. “There are no doubts about his importance,” said Roura. “Villa has always been important and he’s helped us a lot these past couple of weeks. The most important thing is that Villa is doing well. It’s a great joy for us to see him score because he brings a lot to the team.”

Roura praises Messi

“Life is a lot easier when you have Leo Messi. You have to enjoy it on a daily basis when you have the best player in the world on your team,” said Roura. The Argentine has scored in 18 consecutive La Liga matches and he’s racked up a total of 41 goals so far in the competition, which means he’s within striking distance of his own record of 50 goals set in the 2011/12 season. Roura went on to say that “we are in a good position to win La Liga, but we need to take this one step at a time and not rush things.”

Finally, Roura lamented Adriano Correia’s injury. “His injury is the negative news from the match. It’s significant because we are also without Puyol,” said the manager.
