Jordi Alba has settled in very quickly since joining Barça in the summer but few could have imagined that he would score his first goal just nine matches into his Barça career, especially considering his defensive role. Cesc set him up early in the first half against Deportivo and Alba took his opportunity to score a goal reminiscent of his goals for Spain against Italy in the final of EURO 2012 (0-4) and against Belarus (0-4) in the qualifying stage of the World Cup 2014.

The fastest goal

Apart from Jordi Alba, Messi, Villa, Cesc, Pedro, Xavi, Adriano, Tello, Alexis and Puyol have scored at least once this season, making a total of 33 goals in 12 matches. However, Jordi Alba’s goal is the fastest Barça goal this season, beating Puyol’s effort against Real Sociedad.

Fullbacks in form

The squad’s two left backs have notched up three goals between them, with Alba’s goal coming on top of Adriano’s two against Valencia (1-0) and Getafe (1-4). In both games, Adriano scored the opener, as did Alba on Saturday night.
