On Sunday Jordi Alba will return to the place he called home from 2009 to 2012. “I’m very eager to return to Mestalla. Valencia gave me the opportunity to play in Primera Division and gave me the chance to be the player I am today. I’m very grateful and I’m looking forward to seeing the people and fans,” he said during a promotional event. The Valencia-Barça match, week 22 of La Liga, will be played at 21.00 on Sunday.

Barça were better on Wednesday

FC Barcelona will face off against Los Che after the one-all draw in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey at the Bernabéu. “We’re a bit upset because we could have scored more goals,” said the defender. He added: “throughout most of the game we were the better side. It’s true that with very little they can create a lot of danger and they also had their chances to score. In general, however, we controlled the game.”

For now Alba prefers to leave the Cup to one side: “the fact that we have ‘home court’ advantage is important and the two teams are very eager to get to the final. Before that match, however, we have a lot of important games in the Liga and Champions League.”

“I can’t ask for more”

On a personal level, the defender is just as excited as he was when he signed for Barça this summer: “it was a dream to come back and I’m playing at a good level. It feels like I’ve been here for years. I hope to stay a very long time.” He added: “I’m at the best Club in the world and I play for the team that plays the best football. I’m very content, I can’t ask for more.”
