Andrés Iniesta was simply magnificent against Málaga this evening at La Rosaleda. “The individual talent that each player brings to the table helps the team, and with hard work and sacrifice we get the desired results,” said Iniesta. Tito Vilanova’s Barça broke another all-time record this evening - they became the first team in La Liga history to close out the first half of the season with 55 points. On his team’s fantastic form, Iniesta said “we want to be on the same form in May.”

FC Barcelona have yet to taste defeat in the domestic competition this year, but Iniesta admitted that “sooner or later it will come” before he noted that “we’ll try to extend our undefeated streak as long as we can.” The midfielder said, “we feel great and our first half of the season was nearly impeccable,” but he went on to explain that “these kinds of numbers only mean something at the end of the season.”

Málaga to face Barça in the Cup

Barça will face off against Málaga in the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday. Iniesta said that “it’s always more complicated when you play the same team consecutively. It’s very important to get a good result at home.” Lastly when asked about Barça upcoming rivals, the midfielder noted that “we have to be just as concentrated in our next matches because no one will make it easy for us.”

Pedro celebrates his fifth anniversary with the team

The Spanish forward celebrated his fifth anniversary with Barça’s first team on Sunday, and he did it with a good performance against Málaga. “My favorite year of the five with the first team is perhaps the year we won the Club World Cup, but in general they were all good,” said Pedro Rodríguez. Despite the time he’s spent with the first team, the forward recognised that “time has gone by quickly and that’s a good thing.”

Pedro also talked about Barça’s performance against Málaga and the team’s new record. He noted that “it’s a difficult achievement, we’re very strong and we want to continue on form.” For Pedro, this record “is an opportunity to continue growing and a challenge to keep on winning things.” On Barça’s upcoming match against Málaga in the Cup, the forward said, “Málaga have shown us that they are a good team and they’ll make it difficult for us in the Cup.”
