FC Barcelona will be starting the 2013/14 preseason in Poland, as announced this Wednesday by director and spokesman Toni Freixa. The first of the summer’s friendlies will be played on July 20, and will be followed by four other matches on July 24 in Munich, July 27 in Oslo, August 7 in Bangkok and August 10 in Kuala Lumpur. “Over the next few days we’ll announce the city and opponent”, added Freixa.
Improvements to facilities
This summer, the club will also be changing the Camp Nou turf, while €530,000 will be invested in an under-soil heating system. “We will be changing the turf this summer, as we do every year” he explained. “This year the field hasn’t suffered too much, but the groundsmen think it would be much better if we had one of these heating systems and the pitch is a priority issue for us.”
These were not the only improvements that Freixa mentioned, for there is also talk of changing the court surface in the Palau Blaugrana (€150,000), expanding the youth changing rooms at the Ciutat Esportiva (€1,200,000) and progressing with the second phase of construction of the new Auditorium 1899 (€585,000).
Other agreements
The Club also announced that next November it is opening a new office in Hong Kong that “will be used for commercial activity” and that it is petitioning in conjunction with its Veterans Association “for one of the streets close to the stadium to be named after Ladislau Kubala”.
Freixa ended by announcing that the next itinerant meeting of the Board will be in the town of Sitges on June 3.
