Córdoba will be FC Barcelona’s rival in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, the return leg will be at the Camp Nou. The Andalusian side produced one of the surprise upsets of the tournament when they defeated the Primera División side Real Sociedad by an aggregate score of 4-2 (2-0 and 2-2).

One meeting between the two sides

FC Barcelona will face Córdoba for the second time in the history of the competition. The first and only showdown between the two sides in the Copa del Rey was in the 1963/64 season, when both teams battled it out in the Round of 16. On that occasion, Barça went through thanks to victories in both the away and return leg matches.

In the match played in Andalusia, the men managed by César Rodríguezwon by 1-2, thanks to goals from Zaldúa and Re in the first half. Miralles scored for the home team in the second half.

In the return leg, FC Barcelona took the lead after only 40 seconds thanks to a strike from Pereda. The result was 4-1 at the break – Kocsis, Re andBenítez (p) scored for the Blaugrana and Laperta scored for Córdoba. The match ended in with a 4-2 on the scoreboard.
