Une France Football

Éric Abidal has entered a new stage of his recovery, and the football world is still being amazed by his story. Weekly magazine France Football’s cover story says it all: "The power of hope." And that hope is increasing as the player finally returns to the field of play.

In six years at Barça, the Frenchman has won over the fans, as highlighted by an article in France Football. The reporter explains how, at the Camp Nou last year, the crowd honoured him with a standing ovation in the 22nd minute (his shirt number being 22).

Iniesta always motivated

"Whether for club or country, there are always new goals and new challenges. Now it is about the road to Brazil. I do not need to explain what that represents." Andres Iniesta has always silenced those who have felt that he no longer has any hunger to win titles, and adds that one should "never lose the desire to excel."

A hero in Spain since his winning goal in the World Cup Final against the Netherlands, Iniesta still has his head firmly on his shoulders: "I appreciate all the love that pushing me on. The important thing is always to be yourself, and not to change" he comments.

He has also been recognised with the UEFA Best Player in Europe award, in which he finished ahead of Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. "To find myself ahead of two almost unbeatable players is something very special. It makes you realize just what that award means” admits Iniesta. But when asked to explain why he was chosen, the Ballon d'Or winning midfielder believes "I did what I could on the field. The decision wasn’t mine".
