Víctor Valdés will not be in Guardiola’s squad for tonight’s King’s Cup game (22 hours) against Hospitalet. The Barça manager decided to err on the side of caution and not call up the keeper because of a bone contusion on his right elbow. Valdés, who was named by Vicente del Bosque to the Spain national side, will join his fellow national teammates on Thursday, where he will continue his recovery process.

Last training session

Valdés’ injury has forced Guardiola to call up the reserve keeper, Oier Olazábal. The Barça B keeper took part in FC Barcelona’s last training session before the team opens its Cup bid against Hospitalet. A total of 18 players trained on field number 1 of the Ciutat Esportiva: Pinto, Puyol, Piqué, Fontàs, Maxwell, Abidal, Xavi, Iniesta, Keita, Busquets, Cesc and Villa, from the first team; Oier, Deulofeu, Rafinha, Dos Santos, Tello and Sergi Roberto from the reserves.

The following players will not feature in tonight’s match: Valdés, Pedro, and Afellay, all injured; Messi, Mascherano, Alexis, Alves, and Adriano on international duty.

19.30 hours, at the Camp Nou

Even though the team trained at the Ciutat Esportiva instead of the Camp Nou, Pep Guardiola followed his usual routine for home games. After training and eating together at the Club’s facilities, the players are due at the Camp Nou at 19.30 hours for their departure, one hour later, by coach to Hospitalet de Llobregat’s Nuevo Municipal.

The Roster
