The Dutchman, Ibrahim Afellay, could also defend his country’s colours if he is able to recover from his injury before June. His national side, Netherlands, was handed a tough group - the group of death - Group B, with Denmark, Germany and Portugal.

The last group to be drawn was Group A, consisting of Poland, Greece and Russia. Poland, one of the host nations, will open the competition in the inaugural match on the 8th of June. The final will be played on the first of July.
