Barça’s last defeat in Europe was against Arsenal on February 16, 2011. It was in the last-16 away leg of the Champions League. Since then, Barça maintained a perfect record all the way to the unforgettable final in Wembley. The team’s form hasn’t suffered any dips this year either as the Catalans sailed through the group stages of the Champions League without tasting defeat. In total, in almost a year, Barça hasn’t lost in 13 games in the Champions League.

From Emirates to Wembley

After the loss at the Emirates (2-1), Barça mounted a comeback at the Camp Nou (3-1). In the quarterfinals, Barça beat Shakhtar Donetsk in for the away and return legs (5-1 and 0-1). They also won at the Bernabeu (0-2) and drew at home (1-1) against Real Madrid in the semifinals. The 3-1 over Manchester United in the Champions League final at Wembley was the team’s crowning achievement that season.

Six straight victories away from the Camp Nou

The team’s good form in Europe kept on going at the start of this season. In the group stage, Barça drew with Milan at home (2-2) and won their remaining five matches. In Leverkusen, the team added yet another victory to their run.

The win in Germany means that FC Barcelona has won six games in a row away from the Camp Nou, the best run in the team’s history.
