The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Competition Committee has suspended Gerard Piqué for one match for the straight red card he received in the game against Sporting Gijón. The Committee dismissed FC Barcelona’s appeal. Consequently, the player will not be able to play in Barça’s La Liga match against Racing Santander at El Sardinero.

According to the match report, Piqué was sent off because he “brought down an opponent and thereby impeded a goal scoring opportunity.” In addition, the player and the Club have both been fined 600 and 90 euros, respectively.
