All three goals against Sporting were scored by midfielders, with Iniesta and Xavi breaking into the box to beat the tight opposition defence and Keita swerving in a great shot from outside the box. Goals from the midfield have become a key part of this season's success against packed defences, with 39 strikes so far.

Cesc leads the way

The leading scorer from midfield continues to be Cesc Fabregas, with 15, whilst Xavi has scored 12 with Andrés Iniesta (5), Thiago Alcántara (3) and Seydou Keita (2) also chipping in alongside B team player Sergi Roberto, who's scored one in the Cup and one in the Champions League.

Record under Guardiola

The 39 goals so far is the highest number from the midfield in the Guardiola era: last season they contributed 24, 17 the year before last and  27 in the 2008/09 campaign.

In all, Barça have scored an astonishing 135 goals in all competitions so far this season.
