The FC Barcelona first team was greeted by Catalonia’s frigid weather as they trotted out to the pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The cold, which has settled on the Catalan capital, forced the players to train in coats, stocking caps, and gloves. The only player to don shorts was Dani Alves.

Specific training for yesterday’s starters

The players that started against Valencia completed a light training session. The rest of the players focused their efforts on Saturday’s Liga match at the Camp Nou against Real Sociedad (22.00). The Barça B players Dos Santos, Tello, and Sergi Roberto, who were all named to the Cup team to face Valencia, were also present.

Four Juvenil A players

One of today’s surprises was the inclusion of four players from the Juvenil A reserve side on the training ground. The attacker Miguel Ángel; defender Bagnack; left-interior Jordi Quintillá; and midfielder Óscar Garcia all watched their first-team colleagues train from the sidelines.

Finally, the injured players, except Fontàs, continued recuperating in the gym at the Ciutat Esportiva.

Surprise for Piqué

Before the training session, the team congratulated Gerard Piqué, who turns 25 today, with a very sweet surprise. When the Catalan defender arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva he found a cake made of candy. Piqué thanked his teammates on this Twitter and Facebook accounts for the team’s gift and for the many congratulatory messages he’s received from his fans.
