Both players made their top flight debuts this season for Real Zaragoza. Both are Catalan, Edu Oriol is from Cambrils and Abraham Minero, form Granollers. The Zaragoza players also share a similar past in FC Barcelona. Oriol and Abraham were both integral to Barça B’s stellar performance under Luis Enrique last season.

Both footballers were born in 1986 and played for the historic Catalonia town of Sant Andreu. Edu Oriol signed for Barça B in 2009, while Abraham joined the Blaugranas the following season, after Barça B claimed their spot in Spain’s Segunda División. Barça B, ironically, beat Sant Andreu in the Segunda División B promotion playoff.

Playing for Zaragoza

Up until this point, both players haven’t spent too much time on the pitch for Javier Aguirre’s Zaragoza.

Edu Oriol, twin brother of Villareal’s Joan Oriol, has played in 2 games, always coming off the bench; he’s accumulated a total of 43 minutes of play. Aguirre seems to prefer like players Juan Carlos or Lafita instead of the Catalan.

It’s a bit better for Abraham Minero, as he’s played in 3 Zaragoza games, accumulating a total of 154 minutes. Abraham’s games for Zaragoza have ended in one win, one tie, and one loss. He’s showed Aguirre that he can be effective playing wide left and in the middle.

Both players hope to be named to Javier Aguirre’s team for this weekend’s match against FC Barcelona.
