The seven FC Barcelona players in the squad of 23 that Vicente del Bosque is taking to the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine have arrived at the team camp in the Ciudad de Fútbol de Las Rozas. The presence of Víctor Valdés, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Cesc Fàbregas and Pedro Rodríguez means FC Barcelona is once again contributing more players to the side than any other club. The Athletic Bilbao contingent also joined the squad today.

Cesc undergoes resonance

As soon as he arrived, Cesc Fàbregas, who has strained the femoral biceps in his right thigh, visited the team doctor, who used magnetic resonance to examine the extent of the player’s injury.

Visit from Puyol and Villa

The players were also joined today by the injured Carles Puyol and David Villa. Both FCB stars are regular members of the Spain squad, but will miss this June’s tournament through injury. Nevertheless, they both made a point of travelling down to visit the players and offer them some words of encouragement. At 18.00 this evening, Vicente del Bosque has scheduled his first official training session with his full squad. The last friendly will be on Sunday against China at La Cartuja in Seville, and after that the team will be flying to Poland, where their first match of the tournament is against Italy on June 10.
