The game schedule for the 1984/85 season was capricious, the clásico at the Barnabéu was to be played on matchday 1. Terry Venables’ team couldn’t have started their campaign any better as they went on to beat Real Madrid 0-3 (very reminiscent of the 0-5 ten years prior). Schuster, Calderé, Archibald and company imposed their play on the game and the Azlugranas ran away with the match. Barça took top spot in the League after the win, a position they didn’t relinquish all season long. This was the season in which Joaquim Maria Puyal famously shouted “Urruti te quiero!” (Urruti, I love you!) when Barça mathematically won the title in Valladolid.
