The Liga title bid took a knock this month. Barça lost at Osasuna (3-2) to go 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid. In the Copa del Rey, however, the club made it into the final by putting Valencia out in the semis (1-1 and 2-0), the same club against which, in the league, Leo Messi scored four goals in a 5-1 win, the second time he had done that for FC Barcelona. That was also the day of the Argentinian’s 200th match for Barça.
