Barça U19 A 2-2 Unificación Bellvitge: Keepers decide the outcome

The Blaugrana drew in the first official game of the season thanks to goals from Mate and Juan against a Bellvitge side who have goalkeeper Nacho to thank for keeping the score down.

Were it not for an inspired performance from Bellvitge goalkeeper, Nacho, then Gabri’s U19 A side would’ve come away with a victory from their opening game of the 2017/18 Divisió d’Honor season. As it was, the Blaugrana had to be content with a battling 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Mate and Juan. However, a lot of positives can be taken from a match in which their opponents were very defensive throughout.

The game started equally and though Barça were on top in the early stages, it was Bellvitge’s Ceprián who opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Within two minutes the scores were level, Mate’s great header finding the target.

Almost total dominance from the Blaugrana eventually got its reward when Juan put them ahead via a shot in off of the post shortly after the restart. That meant Bellvitge had to be more offensive which suited Barça. Try as they might, Nacho was equal to everything and, with the hosts unable to take their chances, Pedrol brought his side back into the game with just under a quarter of an hour to go.

Still Barça pushed forward for the winner but the woodwork and Nacho, yet again, saw that no further goals were added to the score line.
