Barça B - UD Almeria: They deserved more (1-1)

Gerard López’s team drew a match in which the visitors scored a penalty to take a point from the Miniestadi

Barça B scored early in the second thanks to Choco Lozano, however, Almería’s Verza  levelled with scores with a penalty shortly after. Despite a number of other chances, the hosts were unable to find the net again, and the draw leaves them on 17 points.

Gerard López and his team had a clear idea coming into the game: taking the initiative by keeping possession of the ball and opening up the wide areas though Cucurella and Palencia. Despite dominating the early exchanges, it was Almería that came closest to scoring, but as the half developed, Barça came back into it. Only a stunning save from René kept Choco Lozano’s effort from going in.

The second half began with Almería’s best chance. Pozo’s superb cross was wasted after none of his colleagues could get on the end of it and they were made to pay almost immediately. Choco Lozano finished well from a Palencia assist, giving René no chance (min 55). Arnaiz went close to grabbing a second a few moments later, but the keeper was equal to his shot.

Chances without a reward

A foul by Palencia (min 64) handed the visitors a lifeline and Verza made no mistake from the spot. The equaliser seemed to spark both teams into life with chances at each end, and in the final few passages of play Marc Cardona almost won it for the hosts, but couldn’t take advantage.

Next week, Barça B will visit Reus, where they will seek a win that will move them away from the bottom of the table.
