Barça B’s nine-match unbeaten run came to an end on Sunday when they lost 2-0 at Lleida Esportiu, a result that leaves them tenth and seven points adrift of the promotion playoff zone.

The reserves found the first half-hour especially difficult to deal with. Lleida had them pinned in their own half for almost all that time and only Xemi came close to scoring with a header. However, only a shot from Manu Onwu caused any real threat at the other end and Barça very nearly stole the lead when Perea had a pop on the edge oif half-time.

The second half followed a similar script, until Pau Bosch found the net for the home side, and Colinas very nearly extended that lead in the very next move.

Barça needed to react, and the next stage of the game saw them finally governing control of the match. They had already come frustratingly close to scoring on two occasions when Dani Romera failed to convert their best chance of the afternoon, but Lleida keeper produced a tremendous save.

Barça had Lleida defending desperately as the game drew to a close, but all hope was lost in the final minute when Gerard Gumbau conceded a penalty, which was also worth a second yellow and a sending off. Marc Martínez outwitted FCB stopper Ortolá from the spot, and the home fans could start celebrating.
