Aitor in action / VICTOR SALGADO - FCB

FC Barcelona B were unable to end Week 13 with a win, falling to a 0-1 defeat against CF Badalona at Miniestadi on Sunday evening.

Barça dominated the ball from the offset and had a number of good chances in the first half to take the lead. Campins came closest to opening the scoring on 38 minutes when his shot, from a Maxi Rolón cross, got the better of Vito in the opposition goal but was denied by the woodwork. Grimaldo (5’), Gumbau (17’) and Kaptoum (18’) all had good efforts on goal but to no avail as the first period ended goalless.

Just three minutes shy of the hour-mark came the game’s turning point. Just moments after receiving a yellow card, Rolón was given his marching orders after being penalised for simulation by the referee. And on 60 minutes, Badalona seized on the man advantage by taking the lead through Grasa.

The visitors came close to extending their lead on 66 minutes but Grasa was denied a second goal by some excellent reflexes from Ortolá. Despite playing with a player less, Gerard López’s side never backed down and, after a turbulent opening to the second half, began to impose themselves on the match once again.

Camara tried his luck from distance on 69 minutes but Vito was equal to it. And in the final minute of the game, Grimaldo found himself alone in the area with just the keeper to beat but Fran Grima appeared out of nowhere to get a crucial block on the ball in what was Barça's final chance.
