FC Barcelona B sail in 7–0 win over Horta

Team fly high in third preseason game on goals from Dongou, Babunski, Juste, Maxi Rolón (2), and Aitor

The Gerard López era took another smooth step on Saturday afternoon, beating Catalan first division team Unió Atlètica Horta and ex-Barça forward Xavi Molist by a score of 7–0 in a preseason game at the Ciutat Esportiva. The rout brings Barça B's preseason goal total to 15 with just one against through three matches.

Suárez, Samper and Gumbau

Saturday's match saw the first action by goalkeeper José Suárez and midfielders Sergi Samper and Gerard Gumbau — players that had been spending time with the first team. All three played 45 minutes. The two midfielders will be back up with first team for Sunday's friendly match against Fiorentina in Florence, Italy.

Against Horta, Barça B took the early initiative and after 16 minutes Dongou finished off a cross from Palencia. Minutes later Horta scored an own goal, the result of an errant back pass, and then Babunski made it 3–0 from inside the area.

Maxi and Aitor keep scoring

López once again ran out a completely different eleven in the second half to keep testing different combinations. Ondoa, Lucas, Agostinho Cá, Joel Huertas and Amir were left out and given rest, largely due to the large roster size that López has at his disposal.

After the break, Barça B played a more direct style and, by the end, more goals would come. Maxi Rolon bagged a double thanks to an assist from Godswill and a penalty kick that was awarded following a hand ball whistled against Horta.

Juste and Aitor also found the net to confirm the rout.

The team is off again on Sunday and will return to training again on Monday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva.
