Sandro was unable to help his team to a win against Llagostera / VÍCTOR SALGADO-FCB

Barça B are returning empty-handed from a very windy Palamós, where Llagostera play their home matches, after their first game with Jordi Vinyals in charge ended in 1-0 defeat.

Even though they play their homes games 30km away from the smallest town to ever have a team in the second tier of Spanish football, Llagostera have a fine record in home fixtures this season, and Barça B learned that the hard way. Playing with the wind in their faces, Suárez was unable to kick the ball as far as the halfway line, and the blustery weather was to blame for the goal came after nine minutes in almost farcical circumstances. The curious trajectory of the ball arriving from a throw-in completely caught Suárez of his guard and it ended up in the back of the net.

Barça gradually got used to the conditions, and Munir and Sandro both came close before half-time, but it had been Llagostera who had been doing almost all of the attacking.

After the break, and with the wind now in their favour, the game changed completely, with Barça B now having all the possession. Llagostera were pinned back in their own half for most of the second 45 minutes and concentrated instead on the counter attack. Munir fired close with a long range effort, and the same player almost scored from a header with a quarter of an hour left on the clock. Immediately after, Arturo almost made it 2-0 but Diagné saved the day. The final push saw Grimaldo send a free kick narrowly wide and so it ended. Barça B were defeated and will now return home to start preparing for Mallorca at the Miniestadi on Saturday.
