Barça B have ended a four-match winless streak by comfortably defeating Recreativo at the Miniestadi. The win leaves them in 17th place in the Second Division, one ahead of the relegation zone.
Unrewarded effort
They went out strong, creating several chances and coming closest when Grimaldo tried to outwit visiting keeper Sostres but missed the target. The B team continued to pile on the pressure as the half progressed, but Recreativo did get a couple of chances of their own, which Ié, Patric and Ortolá all defended well. With half-time approaching, Sandro came close from a corner, but Sostres produced a fine save.
Cámara opens scoring
The reserves were clear about what they had to do after the interval and took just four minutes to finally break the deadlock. Munir, back in the reserves after playing for the first team in the cup midweek, finished a brilliant solo run by supplying Cámara, who didn’t even look up before firing home. Recre were quick to react and created plenty of danger from set pieces, but undid that good work by bringing down Dongou in their area and conceding a penalty. Sandro was too clever for Sostres as he converted the spot-kick to extend Barça B’s lead.
Finishing the job
The reserves wanted more. Cámara tried from long range with his left foot and then Munir provided his second assist of the night to Cámara, who struck home from the left. It was game over for Recreativo, although they did manage to grab a quick consolation goal shortly after Barça’s third. It was too little too late, and Eusebio and his team were able to celebrate a convincing win at the Miniestadi.
