FC Barcelona v Numancia: Sandro earns a draw (1-1)

The reserves salvaged a tie in a lively match at the Miniestadi where both sides erred in front of goal Sandro Ramírez equalised with his first goal for the B team this season

Barça drew 1-1 with Numancia in a lively encounter where the visitors were on top for most of the first half, but the home side got back into it after the break. Eusebio’s side included Munir, who was playing his first second division fixture of the campaign, alongside Sandro, Dongou and Adama. But even with that kind of firepower, finding the net proved a difficult task.

Squandered chances

The first half was dominated by Numancia, and Barça had goalkeeper Ortolá to thank on several occasions, and most particularly in a one on one with Sergi Enrich after thirty minutes.

Barça weren’t finding any space to manoeuvre in, and it wasn’t until the 17th minute that Sandro caused the first piece of danger in the opposing area. Dongou came close shortly after, and Adama also had a couple of chances before the first half was out, but near misses and fine saves from visiting keeper Munir kept the game scoreless after the first 45 minutes.

Sandro on target

The first half had barely started when Numància went ahead through Sergi Enrich. Barça B were quick to react and after 61 minutes, Sandro controlled the ball with his left foot and struck it home with his right, thus claiming his first goal of the season for the reserve team.

Barça moved up into fifth gear in pursuit of a winner, and had Numancia pegged back in their own half for most of what remained of the game. Dongou was unable to finish off a fine move started by Munir and Sandro, and shortly after Adama in combination with Dongou created another fine opportunity that went begging.

There was still time for Ié, Munir and Sandro to have pops. Sadly, the goal just didn’t want to come, and it all ended with a valuable point for Barça B, but the frustration of knowing that with a little more luck in front of goal, it could very easily have been three.
