Adama was unable to help his side to a win against Las Palmas / PHOTO: VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

The Miniestadi witnessed a fine game on Saturday, with both sides playing positive adventurous football, but it was Las Palmas who went home with the three points.

Going for it

Barça enjoyed most of the early ball and created chances through Sandro and Dongou, but little was coming of that domination, with the latter missing the target three times and Gumbau also coming close on 26 minutes.

The Canary Islanders then started coming into their own com, and Nauzet Alemán scored with his team’s first real shot on goal. Both sides then had chances to extend the scoring, but half-time arrived with no further goals.

Balance tipped

The reserves battled hard in the second half to grab an equaliser, but Las Palmas were just as intent on stretching their lead, something Ortolá prevented with three fine saves. Adama was Barça’s most dangerous man, but disaster struck in the 69th minute when following two rebounds, Roque Mesa was able to tap the ball home to make it 2-0 to the visitors.

Barça B didn’t give up.  Gumbau tried from long range, but Castro produced a fine save, and Patric and Halilovic also had pops, but also to no avail. Las Palmas managed to consolidate their position at the top of the Division Two table, while it was a disappointing start to the year for Eusebio’s side.
