Eusebio Sacristán's contract as FC Barcelona B manager terminated

U19 team manager Jordi Vinyals will take his place, and Francesc Xavier García Pimienta will now coach the youth team

FC Barcelona has announced that Eusebio Sacristán shall be ceasing his duties manager of Barça B.

The club wishes to thank him for everything he has done for the club as reserve team coach, where he has very much made his mark, as he did before that as a player.

His assistant Carlos Hugo’s contract has also been terminated.

FC Barcelona wishes them both all the very best in their future careers.

FC Barcelona has also announced that the until now U19 (Juvenil A) manager Jordi Vinyals and his assistant Pep Muñoz will now be coaching Barça B.

Their former position will be taken by Francesc Xavier García Pimienta, who was previously in charge of the U19 B team.

150 games

Eusebio Sacristán took over on the Barça B bench on July 7, 2011, and was in the post for 150 official matches. He led the side to 8th, 9th and 3rd place finishes in Division 2A, the latter the club’s equal best ever placing, although this season the team is down in 17th position.

That ends his association with the club, which began with him starring as a player in the Dream Team and later saw him as assistant to Frank Rijkaard at the helm of the first team.

Jordi Vinyals will be coaching in the Second Division for the first time. He has been with the U19 team for two years, winning two leagues and the last edition of the UEFA Youth League. The side is currently fifth in the league and through to the last sixteen in Europe.
