Eusebio Sacristán: “Our challenge is to compete at the highest level”

The Barça B manager said that the team's objective is to "compete at the highest level and be competitive" "We're a young team because we have confidence in our homegrown players," says Eusebio Sacristán

Barça B kicked off its preseason this Friday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. After the usual medial check-ups, Eusebio Sacristán talked to Barça TV and fcbarcelona.com about the upcoming 2013/14 season.

“I’m pleased and excited to return to work. This team is always renewed every season and it’s like we’re starting all over again,” said Eusebio. The Catalan manager added, “I’m eager to keep on working and I want the players to keep on progressing. The goal is to promote them to the first team,” said the manager.

“We’re a young team because we have confidence in our homegrown players. We’ve promoted seven players from the Juvenil team this year and we know that the Second Division is very difficult; we’re confident in our proposal. We want to compete at the highest level and be competitive,” said Eusebio, who is enjoying his third season at the Barça B helm.

The manager added: “we need to know where we’re competing. Our challenge is to be as high up the table as possible and to play at a good level. I’m hopeful that all my players are aware of that.”
