For the second week running, a team that was in the first division last season is visiting the Mini. On Sunday (12.00, Canal Plus) Deportivo la Coruña are in town.

Barça B have just lost three games on the trot. “We have to carry doing the same and playing with the same intensity” said manager Eusebio. “But we need more determination over the final meters in order to end this negative run”.

Ten absentees

The reserves have no fewer than ten players missing for the game. Sergi Gómez and Dongou are both out, as are longer term injury victims Grimaldo, Cá, Ié, Campins and Juste.

To add to the problems, Babunski, Bagnack and Sanabria are all away on international duty for Macedonia, Cameroon and Paraguay respectively. Youth players Munir and Quintillà had to brought in just to get the squad up to 17. As Eusebio said “we are taking it in our stride that the second division hasn0t stopped for the internationals, and the same thing has affected other teams, but it’s something they’ll have to look at to make sure it doesn’t happen again”.

The team have been together in a hotel from Saturday, and will consist of the following players: Masip, Ortolá, Patric, Planas, Ilie, Joan Román, Espinosa, Samper, Denis Suárez, Pol Calvet, D. Nieto, Lucas, Edu Bedia, X. Quintillà, Adama, Sandro and Munir.

Depor dangerous away

Deportivo have thirteen points and are ninth in the table. Fernando Vázquez’s side are especially strong on the road, having won three out of their four away fixtures.

“Depor have quality and experienced players. They know how to control match situations and play the game at their own pace” said the coach. “So we’ll just have to impose our own.”

But scoring against Depor is not easy – they have only conceded four goals in eight games.

Nice surprise

After the final trainings session, Barça B were visited by former player Marc Muniesa, who has taken advantage of the international break to come and visit old friends and wish them luck for the season.
