Barça B kicked off the 2013/14 preseason on Friday with 20 players, including Dani Nieto, who had signed his two-year contract with the reserve side hour prior to the training session.

The keeper Ortolá, another new Blaugrana player this season, has been given permission to join the team at a later date due to his participation in the U-20 World Cup with Spain. In addition to Ortolá, Juste, Grimaldo and Agostinho also missed the session on Friday.

The following players took part in the first session of the preseason: Masip, Bañuz, Planas, Sergi Gómez, Kiko Femenía, Espinosa, Patric, Joan Román, Dongou, Quintillà, Miguel Maza, Bagnack, Pol Calvet, Robert Costa, Babunski, Samper, Lucas Gafarot and Ayala.

Second session in Navata

The reserve side will take to the pitch for a second time in Navata this Saturday at 18.30. On Sunday, the men managed by Eusebio will train twice, once in the morning (9.30) and once in the afternoon (18.30).

Five preseason matches on the schedule

Barça B’s first preseason opponent are Escala, who will take on the Blaugrana on Tuesday at 19.00 (Esport3). Llagostera will be Barça B’s second rival; the two teams will play on July 31 at 20.00 in Palafrugell. Olot will feature against the Blaugrana on August 3 at 19.00, whilst Lleida will follow on August 8 at 20.00 and four days later Barça B will face Banyoles (kick off time yet to be announced).

Barça B’s “altas y bajas”

Barça B’s roster has gone through a couple of changes during the off season. The most notable players to leave the Blaugrana are Gerard Deulofeu (on loan to Everton), David Lombán, and Rodrigo Ríos Lozano (on loan to UD Almería).

Eusebio Sacristán’s team will also have some new faces this season. Adrià Ortolá signed for Barça B through June 30 of 2016; his buy out clause is set at 12 million euros. The former Villarreal B keeper declared that Víctor Valdés “is my idol because of how he plays, because of his personality and because of how he dominates the ball with his feet.”

Dani Nieto is another newcomer to the Blaugrana. The former Alcorcón player will be a Barça B player for the next two seasons, and his buy out clause is also set at 12 million euros. The forward featured in 21 matches last season for Alcorcón and scored a total of five goals.
